A commission from Radio Station 6RTR Perth, "Frangipani Meets Godzilla Nos.1-4" are mallet based pieces with recurring melodic elements of varying length, played in a continuous overlapping counterpoint. The piece is pretty and inviting like a fragrant Frangipani tree; but is inculcated by a 4/4 drumming pattern (Godzilla) which removes the immediate aesthetic and alters it to an ubiquitous pop song. The variations are related to speed and associated reverb. The radio station chose No.4 as the selection to be played during New Music Week.
